The traveling exhibition “Terremoti d’Italia” (Earthquakes of Italy) was launched in 2007 to mark the anniversaries of several particularly significant events in Italy’s seismic history: the tenth anniversary of the earthquake that struck Umbria and Marche on 26 September 1997, the fortieth anniversary of the Belice earthquake of 15 January 1968, and the centenary of the Messina and Reggio Calabria earthquake of 28 December 1908.
Promoted by the Civil Protection Department, initially in collaboration with the Italian Ministry of Culture, the exhibition has been periodically updated in both content and graphic design. These revisions were made to adapt the exhibition to different territorial contexts and to engage an increasingly diverse audience in terms of age and educational background.
